Cow Play – An Introduction to Hucow roleplay

Cow players bell

Cow play is a popular genre of pet play where the pet takes on the role and behaviours of cattle.

This type of pet play has strong ties with lactation fetishes, D/s dynamics and objectification.

Cow Play can also be referred to as Livestock play.

Livestock play, from my understanding, is an umbrella term for pet players who play the role of any kind of livestock. This includes cows, pigs, sheep, goats or any other animal that is normally raised and/or used on a farm.

Cow players are often referred to as hucows (human cows) and play in conjunction with D-types, who are often referred to as Farmers.

Types of Cows

There are a hundred different types of cow players out there, overall they all seem to fit into one of these three styles/types.

  • Dairy cows
  • Bulls
  • Calves

Dairy cows

A cow player that is milked.

No you don’t have to be female or lactating to roleplay as a dairy cow! I will talk more about different ways hucows are milked in the next section!

Bulls

The Livestock players that are used to ‘breed’ (consenting!) hucows.

You know, to “improve milk production” or … something… definitely not coz it’s hot..

Calves

Cow players that are a little more energetic, playful and silly.

In this style of cow play those aspects of D/s, objectification, breeding and/or lactation fetishes that are so interlinked with a lot of Hucow play are not quite at the forefront of this style, and if they are it is typically a little more ‘gentle’.

Common Activities

Some common activities seen in cow play scenes include:

Milking

Milking takes on a broader meaning in cow play scenes.

Female Hucows that are lactating can be milked either by hand or by using pumps.

For cow players (male or female) that aren’t lactating, you have a few options!

Milking can roleplayed by mimicking the process done to lactating cow players, again either by hand or by the use of pumps.

You can spin this as inducing or preparing the hucow for lactation.

Milking can also take place… further south if you catch my drift.

Combining this style of ‘milking’ with other kink activities like chastity, orgasm denial, forced orgasms or prostate massage.

Breeding

Breeding can be roleplayed by ether a farmer or bull with a Cow.

or

You can also roleplay breeding your cow using dildos or for those who enjoy medical based roleplay farmers can “artificially inseminate” their hucows.

You can get dildos that ejaculate and lube that looks like cum!! Yes I am geeking out about this!

Training

Unlike training seen in other pet play scenes, training in cow play tends to lean more towards functional skills.

Cow players can be trained to;

  • Walk into their milking stations
  • Stay still when tied to something or milked
  • Follow your ‘lead rope’ (basically leash training but with a length of rope rather than a dog leash)

Compatible kinks

Cow play combines well with a lot of kinks. The main three tend to be:

Lactation fetish

aka milk fetish, lactophilia, or erotic lactation.

A fetish for lactating breasts, breast milk, breastfeeding or pumping breast milk.

This kink can be expressed in a lot of different ways depending on your interests including (but not limited to) adult nursing relationships (ANRs), age play, and pet play.

Objectification

Treating a person as an object or a commodity with ‘no regard’ for their personal preferences or dignity (within your negotiated boundaries of course). Objectification can be seen in a lot of different flavours within the kink community – my personal favorites being in animal roleplay, dollification and Master/slave relationships.

D/s

Dominant/submissive refers to the power exchange between consenting partners. In the case of cow play the s-type will usually take on the role of the cow giving the D-type (usually the farmer/owner) power over what happens to them during the scene – within the negotiated boundaries.

Other kinks can include (but definitely aren’t limited to):

  • Humiliation
  • Bondage
  • Breeding
  • CNC (consensual non-consent)
  • Chastity
  • Orgasm denial
  • Forced orgasm
  • Prostate massage
  • Medical play
  • Cum fetish

Gear

Ears

For many ears are an important identifier of their pet space. With ears being available in clips or headbands, faux fur or metal. There are as many styles as you can possibly imagine!

Tails

Tails come in a ton of different styles to match your personal pet play style. They also come with the option of being inserted or attached through harnesses, belt loops, or tying around the waist depending on personal preference.

Knee Pads

Knee injuries suck – trust me. Having to call your scene because of knee pain? Also sucks.

So if you like to crawl in your pet space please please please protect your knees and always use knee pads!

Pumps

Pumps can be used by cow players to add to the roleplay of being milked. Breast pumps made for and used by breastfeeding women are the safest option – as they are made for humans. Some players use other kinds of pumps – I wouldn’t recommend it as they can cause injury and long term damage.

Collars

Collars can be as part of a collaring ceremony (like a wedding band), or as a symbol that the pet is a pet. It’s all up to those who are participating within the play and/or dynamic.

Harnesses

These can be used as another form of bondage, be decorative, used as attachment points for tails, or to attach your cow to their milking stall.

Communities

Through my research I was able to find a Reddit Hucow forum and some discussion groups on Fetlife
